Dr. James A. Scott, age 67, of Tabor City, NC, transitioned from his earthly home to his eternal home on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in Novant Wilmington Hospital, Wilmington, NC. 

A viewing will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, in the Westside Funeral Home Chapel, 106 S Lewis St, Tabor City, NC 28463 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be on Sunday, October 5, 2025, in the Bristol Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 5910 Dothan Rd, Tabor City, NC 28463 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Bristol Creek Church Cemetery.

Surviving to cherish his memories are his wife, Mazie Scott, sons, James Scott, Jr., and Damion Gause, daughters, Dawn Scott, Angela Scott, Aleshia Johnson, Beve Strickland, and Tushima Livingston, siblings, Otis Smith (Mary), Pastor Nathaneil Scott (Ardella), and Pastor Norie Scott, sisters, Martha Scott Gore (Legrant), Plowden Scott, Jr., Julie A. Scott, Charles Anthony Scott, Pastor Gwen Wilson, and Lary Dean Hickman.
